The Neraida Floating Museum participates in the 14th Panhellenic Conference of Maritime Museums, organised by the Hellenic Maritime Museum on 24 & 25 April 2026, at the Museum’s premises at Zea Marina in Piraeus.

The Conference is held under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

Under the special thematic “From Past to Present: Contemporary Museum Practices in Presenting Maritime Cultural Heritage”, the Conference brings to the forefront the role of maritime museums in the modern era and the need to redefine their relationship with audiences.

The aim of the Conference is to strengthen collaboration and networking among Greek maritime museums, as well as to facilitate the exchange of experience and best practices for the preservation and promotion of our maritime heritage.

Representatives of maritime museums, cultural organisations, and institutions from Greece and abroad will participate in the proceedings.

The special thematic will be explored during the first session by academics and museum professionals, with a focus on issues such as digitisation, the use of new technologies, and the enhancement of the visitor experience. Keynote speakers of the session include the Director of the Royal Museums of Greenwich, Mr Paddy Rodgers, and the Director of the Museo Naval Madrid, Dr Captain Juan Escrigas Rodríguez.

The second and third sessions are dedicated to Greek maritime museums, where presidents or directors of the respective organisations will present their work and activities, within the framework of a dynamic dialogue that fosters connections among participants and enhances the outward-looking character of maritime museums.

The Conference proceedings will be open to the public, with the option to attend remotely via livestream.
