To date, over 6,600 students from Attica region have visited the historic Argo-Saronic line ship; through the educational programme ‘Travelling with the Neraida: A game on board, they have been introduced to different aspects of maritime life, as well as of Greek maritime and coastal shipping of the 20th century.

This year, 3 Educational Portfolios were designed to bring the Museum closer to schools in the rest of Greece: using a variety of educational materials (videos, pictures, texts, etc.), they present the history of the ‘Neraida’ passenger ship and its conversion into a floating museum, while giving an impetus for discussion and other activities related to specific topics, such as travelling and the sea, ships and navigation, communication and transport, people and memories.

The Educational Portfolios are addressed to students in all primary school grades; they are sent to schools free of charge upon request and they always come with detailed instructions for teachers and recommended activities. These educational materials, listed below, seek to entertain students in the safety of their classroom, and to provide them with a creative way to receive information and explore the ship, even remotely. The next step is a visit to the museum!

The Educational Portfolios available are:
